As Hong Kong introduces a new waste charging scheme to better manage our city’s waste, Asia Society Hong Kong Center is proud to dig deep into this important topic in a two-part series with ASHK Scholar-in-Residence and HKUST Professor Christine Loh.
Waste is a serious issue for any city, requiring policy planners to harness many diverse resources to manage a complex and multi-faceted challenge. In part one of this series, Professor Loh will speak to a distinguished panel including Donald Lim, General Manager at ALBA Integrated Waste Solutions (Hong Kong) Limited, Laurent Pelletier, CEO of Veolia Hong Kong & Macau, and Professor Jonathan Wong, Top Talent Professor of the Research Centre for Eco-Environmental Engineering of the Dongguan University of Technology, about what Hong Kong is doing currently to manage its waste, including its successes, opportunities, and challenges to be addressed.
Donald Lim is the General Manager at ALBA Integrated Waste Solutions (Hong Kong) Limited. With a background as a chemical engineer, he has devoted himself to the field of recycling, especially on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) recycling for the past 25 years. He has played an instrumental role in ensuring the success of the WPRS implementation in Hong Kong, by overseeing the efficient collection and treatment of WEEE.
