Asia Society Hong Kong Center is proud to present the Chairman’s Dialogue Series, a specially curated series of marquee events bringing together distinguished guests from around the world for conversations with Ronnie Chan, Chairman of Asia Society Hong Kong Center.
In this conversation, Mr. Chan will be joined by Mr. Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO and National Director of ADL (Anti-Defamation League), and Mr. Oliver Weisberg, CEO of Blue Pool Capital, to discuss the work of the ADL and the importance of combating hatred, extremism, and antisemitism in today’s world.
Jonathan A. Greenblatt is the CEO of ADL (Anti-Defamation League) and its sixth National Director. As chief executive of ADL, Jonathan leads all aspects of the world’s leading anti-hate organization. He is an accomplished entrepreneur and innovative leader with deep experience in the private, public and nonprofit sectors. Since becoming CEO in July 2015, Mr. Greenblatt has modernized ADL while refocusing it on the mission it has had since its founding in 1913: to fight the defamation of the Jewish people, and to secure justice and fair treatment to all.
Mr. Greenblatt serves on numerous corporate and non-profit boards and has been recognized on multiple occasions for his leadership at ADL. He has been named by The NonProfit Times to its list of Top 50 Nonprofit Leaders from 2016-2022. Recode named Mr. Greenblatt to its inaugural “Recode 100,” a list of the top 100 people in business and technology. He has been named among the Top 50 Most Influential Leaders in the global Jewish community by The Jerusalem Post and as one of the Top 50 Jews to follow on Twitter by the JTA. Before ADL, Mr. Greenblatt served in the White House as Special Assistant to President Obama and Director of the Office of Social Innovation.
Oliver Weisberg is the Chief Executive Officer of Blue Pool Capital, a multi-strategy investment firm based in Hong Kong. Mr. Weisberg is an Alternate Governor of the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty, and Vice Chairman of BSE Global. Mr. Weisberg graduated from Harvard College and spent considerable time living and doing business in Mainland China. He is a fluent Chinese speaker.
Mr. Weisberg started on Wall Street in New York and built his career in private equity, special situations, and hedge fund investing in Asia. He was part of Goldman Sachs’ Asian Special Situations and Principal Investment Area divisions, where he represented the firm’s investment in Alibaba and sat on the Alibaba board. In 2006, Mr. Weisberg joined Citadel and was a Partner in Hong Kong when he left to join Blue Pool Capital in 2015.
Mr. Weisberg manages the firm’s investments in the Brooklyn Nets, New York Liberty, San Diego Seals, Premier Lacrosse League, and Los Angeles FC. Mr. Weisberg played competitive tennis in high school and was a walk-on to the Harvard Squash team.
For over a decade, Mr. Weisberg was on the board and instrumental in helping to build Teach for China; he is currently on the Advisory Board of the Harvard University Shanghai Center and the Harvard China Fund. Mr. Weisberg serves on the board of Squash + Education Alliance (SEA). He is a member of the Young Presidents' Organization and the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin.
