HOUSTON, May 3, 2023 — Over 1,500 guests joined Asia Society Texas for the Festival of Eid celebrating the end of Ramadan and Houston’s Muslim community.
As a part of Asia Society’s Muslim series, this free event, presented by the Tameez family, honored the rich history of Islamic arts and traditions with cultural performances, educational activities, and delicious food. The festival was welcomed with beautiful weather as families savored an all halal menu of food from vendors and food trucks and learned about Pakistani Truck art from the Indus Arts Council on Southmore Boulevard.

Guests ventured to the second floor to visit the vibrant retail bazaar and get complimentary henna and demonstrations of ebru (water marbling) and Arabic calligraphy presented by the Islamic Arts Society.
Local community organizations and partners including American Turkish Association of Houston, American Lebanese Cultural Center, Arab American Cultural & Community Center, Syrian American Club, and the Egyptian American Society provided more learning opportunities with fun crafts, art demonstrations.
