Exclusively at Asia Society, world-renowned calligraphy master Zhou Bin will take you on a journey that integrates yoga and meditation with the power of the written script in a discipline known as "Licao Shu calligraphy."

Artfully designed by Master Zhou, you will participate in this interactive mindfulness workshop that lowers stress, promotes healing, and enhances your spiritual connection. During each workshop, Master Zhou will focus on a core Chinese element centered on mindfulness and Eastern philosophy. You will gain a deeper understanding of each element, how they connect with wellness and meditation, and physically express these elements through the power of the written word and yoga.

Through the practice of Chinese calligraphy, students will physically express these elements through brush, ink, and paper. They will then embody the meaning of each element through guided meditation. Finally, students will physically express these Chinese character elements through yoga poses that connect the power of the written form and spirit through the body.

Through the integration of these three elements, you will gain a deeper spiritual connection between your mind, physical body, and your environment. You will unlock ancient secrets to wellness and meditation that are steeped in Eastern traditions, aiding you in an effective form of healing and alignment of positive energy for the body and mind.

About Master Zhou Bin

For more than three decades, world-renowned calligrapher master Zhou Bin has dedicated his life to bridging cultures through calligraphy and promoting its benefits of wellness and meditation. As a prominent Chinese calligrapher, his works have been displayed at renowned exhibitions in China and around the world. Yet it is his passion for promoting calligraphy that has shaped his life’s work — taking him beyond the studio to university classrooms at the University of Southern California-Shanghai Jiao Tong University (USC-SJTU) and to the United Nations as the calligraphy mentor for former Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon. He currently serves as the Director of the Chinese Calligraphy Culture Education and Communication Center at USC-SJTU and the Chairman of United Association of Calligraphy, an NGO associated with the United Nations. A Shanghai native, Master Zhou earned his Ph.D. in Literature at Zhejiang University.
