"We Are Sorry For This Transient Inconvenience" series: "Indus Fans" (2012), jacquard tapestry, 32 x 57 in.

Award-winning artist Risham Syed will talk about Metropolyptical: A Tale of a City, her exhibition at Project 88 gallery. She will discuss these changes, and the subject of rehabilitation in an urban context, as well as her inventive technique that weds tapestry weaving with contemporary photographic imagery.

With a Master’s Degree from the Royal College of Art in London, Syed is the winner of the 2012 ABRAAJ Capital Art Prize, and has exhibited work throughout India, the Middle East, the UK, and Pakistan, where she lives and teaches art. This will be her first solo show in this country.
