Xu Xi has lived between Hong Kong and New York for over forty 40 years. During this evening program, Xu Xi will read from her new memoir and most recently published novel, and talk about the challenges for a writer who is a transnational from Asia. Xu Xi will be available for a book signing after the discussion.
 

Xu Xi (許素細) is author of 12 books, most recently a memoir Dear Hong Kong: An Elegy For A City (Penguin, July 1, 2017), the novel That Man In Our Lives (C&R Press, 2016) and Interruptions (Hong Kong University Museum & Art Gallery/Columbia Univ. Press, 2016-17), a collaborative ekphrastic essay collection in conversation with photography by David Clarke. Forthcoming books include Insignificance: Stories of Hong Kong (Signal 8 Press, 2018) and This Fish is Fowl: Essays of Being (Nebraska University Press, 2019-20). She is co-founder, with Robin Hemley, of Authors at Large offering international writing retreats and workshops and is Fiction Editor for Tupelo Press in the U.S. A former Indonesian national native of Hong Kong and U.S. citizen, she currently lives between New York and Hong Kong.
