Seasoned climate journalists Somini Sengupta, Raymond Zhong, and Jesse Pesta discuss how they have come to look at the climate challenge, parsing through questions of how well the media is getting through to the public, where lapses in coverage lie, and how we might awaken people to the challenges posed by climate change.

Somini Sengupta is the international climate reporter and author of the book, "The End of Karma: Hope & Fury Among India's Young."

Raymond Zhong is a reporter for the Climate and Environment desk. He previously worked as a correspondent in India, China, and Taiwan. His reporting on China's response to the coronavirus was part of a package of stories that was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Public Service in 2021.

Jesse Pesta is deputy editor for climate and environment at The New York Times, as well as a photographer and former foreign correspondent based out of India and Hong Kong for The Wall Street Journal. 

Orville Schell (moderator) is Vice President and Arthur Ross Director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations at the Asia Society, and a former dean of the University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Journalism. Schell is the author of fifteen books, ten of them about China, and a contributor to numerous edited volumes.
