On Wednesday, June 2, 2021 Asia Society Northern California hosted an Executive Roundtable with former vice chair of Goldman Sachs Japan, co-head of Macro Research in Asia and chief Japan equity strategist, Kathy Matsui on Women's empowerment in Asia.

Some of the topics assessed Matsui's relentless efforts on developing Womenonomics under Japan's Abe Administration, transparency of multinational companies and organizations for gender equality and women's rights, recommended mandatory quotas for women in a legislative capacity, and Matsui's new book How to Nuture Female Employees. The discussion also talked about Matsui's new company MPower Partners and the recent launch of her ESG-focused VC fund for startups in Japan with an all-female core leadership team. The conversation was moderated by Wendy Cutler, Vice President at the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI) and managing director of the Washington, D.C. office.
