'Cure4Cancer' Hub Raising Awareness for International Clinical Trials Now Available in Chinese
NEW YORK, May 4, 2023 — Asia Society, in collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), Bloomberg New Economy International Cancer Coalition, the Chinese Thoracic Oncology Group (CTONG), and others have jointly launched Cure4Cancer (C4C), a new online informational hub to raise public awareness about international clinical trials and their unique capacity to save lives. The new site cure4cancerglobal.org is now available in Chinese and is the first portal of its kind aiming to bring together information on international policy harmonization on clinical trials.
纽约，2023年4月26日—亚洲协会（Asia Society）与纪念斯隆-凯特琳癌症中心（MSK斯隆）、彭博创新经济国际抗癌联盟、中国胸部肿瘤研究协作组(CTONG)等机构合作，共同推出了Cure4Cancer（聚爱愈癌，简称：C4C）国际合作项目。该项目旨在通过建立新的网络信息枢纽，提高公众意识，帮助国际社会各界更深入地了解国际临床试验及其在抗癌领域拯救生命的巨大能力。网站现推出中文版本，旨在搭建首个汇集国际临床试验的政策协同相关信息的门户网站。
Together, China and the U.S. account for almost 40% of the world’s 10 million annual cancer deaths. Thus, it is paramount that Chinese data, cases, patients, and other stakeholders are connected to the global Cure4Cancer movement through the Chinese website.
中美两国每年的癌症死亡总人数占到了全世界每年1000万死亡人数的约40%。这使得中文数据、重点案例、患者以及其它相关人士和信息通过C4C中文网实现与抗癌全球社群的广泛连接显得意义非凡.
The multilingual launch, starting with Chinese, is the first step in Cure4Cancer's strategy as a global collaboration dedicated to connecting a wide range of stakeholders across languages and geographies around the world, including the Asia-Pacific region, in the fight against cancer.
以中文版本为起点,开发官方网站的多语种版本，是Cure4Cancer战略的第一步。作为一个全球性的合作项目，C4C致力于联合包括亚太地区在内，全球使用各种语言、来自各个地域的利益攸关方，携手抗击人类的共敌：癌症。
The main barrier to finding life-saving new cancer treatments or prevention is the time it takes to conduct clinical trials. Over 19 million new cancer cases are diagnosed worldwide every year, but due to a lack of patient awareness, only less than 5% enroll in clinical trials despite the fact that they are widely recognized as providing the most advanced cancer treatments.

Bureaucratic red tape and a lack of coordination between government regulatory agencies in different countries also limit clinical trials. Better international standardization of clinical trials and their approvals has proven capable of shortening the time needed to roll out a new cancer treatment from 15 years to two or three years. Better standardization could help 10% of all cancer patients reduce their risk of death by 10% to 20% annually, representing one to two million lives saved every year.

The new C4C website, first launched in English in early March, brings together key information about patients’ personal journeys with clinical trials, how to find and join a study, and the history of international clinical trials collaboration.

Dr. Bob Li, Medical Oncologist and Physician Ambassador to China and Asia-Pacific at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; Senior Fellow on Global Public Health at the Asia Society Policy Institute’s Center for China Analysis, said: “Clinical trials are the critical step of translating scientific discovery into saving lives. It currently takes on average 10 to 15 years to develop any new therapeutics because we work in silos and simply can’t find the right patients in need for the right treatment. We have now done proof of concept to show that we can lead these breakthroughs in a much quicker time frame of 2-3 years if we break down the silos in a multiregional, international fashion.”

Better international coordination and harmonization of cancer clinical trials could save as many as two million lives every single year. Our international Cure4Cancer movement seeks to raise public awareness of the extremely undervalued potential of international clinical trials as well as to empower more policy innovations and promote patient-centric treatments globally.”
