As Afghans face a disorderly political situation, a resurgent Taliban, and the withdrawal of international peacekeeping forces, our upcoming AsiaConnect briefing will feature Ahmad Nader Nadery, Director of the Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit, discussing the outlook for Afghanistan in 2015. He will also share his views on the key issues and priorities for President Ashraf Ghani’s administration.
Ahmad Nader Nadery is Director of the Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit, a leading think tank in Afghanistan. He is also Chairman of the Free and Fair Elections Foundation of Afghanistan and Chairman of the Board of the Open Society Foundation-Afghanistan. Previously, Nadery served for eight years as the Commissioner of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC). In 2001, he represented young political activists at the UN peace talks for Afghanistan, and in 2002 he served as a spokesperson for the National Assembly andworked as Country Director of Global Rights, an international human rights law group. Nadery was an Asia 21 Fellow of the Asia Society in 2007. He studied law and political science at Kabul University and earned his master's degree in international affairs from George Washington University.
