Reel Voices
VIEW EVENT DETAILSFamily Flix @ ASTC
In celebration of Asia Society Texas Center’s current exhibitions, nine high school students from San Diego learn the art of documentary filmmaking and challenge their own conceptions about identity. The Reel Voices Program, a vigorous three month internship through the San Diego Asian Film Foundation (now known as the Pacific Arts Movement), helps students become socially-conscious storytellers, gain knowledge about editing, and experience all stages of production and post-production.
Four of the nine short films have strong Asian American connections with topics ranging from a California teen examining her Vietnamese heritage to an adopted girl’s journey in eastern China. Asia Society Texas Center is proud to partner with the Pacific Arts Movement and the San Diego Asian Film Festival on the Texas premiere of Reel Voices.
An additional screening will take place on Sunday, March 17 at 11:00 am.
