Annual Dinner 2007
America and Asia in a Time of Transition
Our June 2, 2007 Annual Dinner, the fourth and most successful to date, focused on American foreign policy in Asia and featured a keynote address by The Honorable Madeleine K. Albright, 64th Secretary of State (1997-2001). Following her address, Secretary Albright participated in a discussion with the Honorable George Shultz, Asia Society Northern California Honorary Chairman and 60th Secretary of State (1982-1989), and David Broder, Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for the Washington Post. Held at the historic Garden Court at San Francisco's Palace Hotel, the sold-out Dinner was attended by over 440 guests.
This year's Dinner also featured and presented awards to three extremely deserving women who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of mutual understanding between the US and Asia.
Asia Society Northern California presented three Leadership and Excellence Awards in the fields of arts and culture, education, and business and policy to three distinguished women of the community: Dr. Emily Sano, Director of the Asian Art Museum, Dr. Barbara Bundy, founding Director of the Center for the Pacific Rim at the University of San Francisco, and Dr. Ruth Shapiro, founding Executive Director of the Asia Business Council.
Annual Dinner Co-chairs and ASNC Advisory Board Members in attendance included Iris and Mike Chan, Emily Sano, Senator Dianne Feinstein and Richard Blum, Dixon Doll, Pam and Richard Kramlich, Reiko and Chong-Moon Lee, Jeanne and Sandy Robertson, Charlotte and George Shultz, Susy and Jack Wadsworth, and Judy Wilbur.
