Asia's Financial Markets
Through a New Light:
Lessons From the US Corporate Governance Crisis
Asia Society, 725 Park Avenue, New York City
Half-Day Seminar - September 25, 2002, 8:30 am -- 12:15 pm
With institutional investors edgy in the wake of recent corporate meltdowns, and with the recent decision by a major US pension manager to pull out of several Asian markets because of inadequate corporate governance and transparency, Asian markets have become quite focused on what it will now take to continue to attract institutional money. Have the criteria for investing in the Asian markets changed? Which emerging markets in Asia are making the most headway in corporate governance? What can Asia learn from the recent corporate calamities in the US? What can the US learn from Asia's efforts to reform its own financial markets?
Organized in collaboration with the Pacific Pension Institute and sponsored by Pillsbury Winthrop LLP, this half-day seminar will aim to attract an audience of 100 institutional investors, including fund managers, pension managers, and insurance company executives, as well as senior representatives of law, accounting and consulting firms. The conference will be on the record and press will be invited.
