MANILA, Philippines –- Asia Society Philippines and Anvil Publishing released its second expanded edition of Kulinarya: A Guidebook to Philippine Cuisine at the SMX Aura Convention Center today. With the Filipino-inspired table setting, banig-clad chairs and modernized Filipino folklore music, members of the press experienced a three-course family-style lunch as celebrated chefs and Asia Society Chairwoman, Doris Ho, on the panel shared their journey and vision in creating the new edition cookbook.
Filipino chefs Glenda Barretto (Via Mare), Jessie Sincioco (Le Souffle, Chef Jessie) and Claude Tayag (Bale Dutung) and Ms. Ho expressed their mission to capture the essence of traditional Philippine cuisine by distilling best practices in Filipino food preparation and presentation. The panelists reinforced their resolve in continuing the “Kulinarya Movement” –- a movement to inspire food lovers in the country and abroad to bring Filipino cuisine to the highest level of excellence for the world to appreciate.
Top chefs Margarita Flores (Cibo, Pepato, Café Bola), Myrna Segismundo (Restaurant 9501) and Conrad Calalang (Seasons, Intermezzo) also contributed to the new edition of the cookbook.
The coffee-table cookbook is divided into nine chapters with Filipino food recipes from appetizers, main courses to dessert. It contains expanded sections on best practices on Filipino cuisine and a new section on food presentation called “The Filipino Table”.
The second edition of Kulinarya will be officially launched and on sale nationwide on November 28, 2013, 6:00pm at National Bookstore, Glorietta 1.
