Discover Cambodia Tour
With Asia 21 Philippine Fellow Ivan Henares as their guide, the group took to the streets to see what Cambodia had to offer.
SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA -- Last May 23 to 26, 2013, Asia Society Philippine Foundation recently concluded a trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia as part of its Asia Tour Series. The tour was organized by Asia 21 Philippines Fellow and TOYM awardee Ivan Henares.
With Ivan Henares as their tour guide, the group explored the famed Angkor Wat and several other temples in the Angkor complex, including Angkor Thom, Bayon and Ta Prohm (the filming location of the movie Tomb Raider). Angkor was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992. The tour also included visits to Tonle Sap Lake, Artisans d'Angkor (a school that works to revive traditional Khmer arts & crafts at the same time, uplift the lives of Cambodians from rural areas), the many interesting markets of Siem Reap, and local restaurants which gave participants a taste of Khmer's rich cuisine.
It was three days of adventure and exploration as the group enjoyed the beauty of the different historical sites and the experience of Cambodia's rich cultural heritage.
