Chef Ranjan Dey on Cooking Indian Cuisine
On August 18, 2020 Asia Society Northern California hosted a cooking tutorial with Chef Ranjan Dey, who showed the audience how to make a delicious chicken curry from his New Delhi Restaurant in San Francisco using the top five spices to boost the immune system: turmeric, ginger, cayenne, garlic, and cinnamon. Chef Dey also taught the audience how to craft a Nimbu Pani, a classic Indian fizzy limeade.
This program was moderated by Kathy Fang, the chef and co-owner of one of San Francisco’s most popular Chinese eateries, Fang. Both chefs discussed the impact of COVID-19 on the restaurant industry in San Francisco. Chef Ranjan also shared with the audience his words of wisdom: "if you cook with love, the love will flow into the food." His chicken curry and Nimbu Pani recipes can be found here.
