Choosing Sides: Shaping Our Relationships in the Asian Century
VIEW EVENT DETAILSPublic lecture with Professor Hugh White
Australians do not want to choose between the US and China, but whether we have to or not depends on the choices that they themselves make about their relationships over the coming decades.
Will China aim to push America out of Asia? Will America agree to share power with China or insist on maintaining primacy itself? Can they negotiate a new way of working or will they slide into increasingly intense rivalry?
How can Australia influence the outcome, and what outcome should we prefer?
This public lecture will launch the two-day Fulbright symposium "Australia-US Relations and the Rise of China: From Bilateralism to Trilateralism?", managed by Deakin University.
