Cross-border mergers and acquisitions in and out of Asia have reached unprecedented levels in recent years with a growing incidence of Asian companies acquiring western firms. Panelists will discuss the changing profile of M&As among emerging and developed economies, overall trends for intra-Asian and inter-Asian cross-border M&A activity and implications of the emergence of new players, like China, India, and the Middle East on global M&A in the context of economic integration in Asia.

Mary Ma, Chairman, Boyu Capital & Non-Executive Vice Chairman, Lenovo
Mary Ma is Chairman of Boyu Capital, and prior to that was Partner at TPG Capital and Co-Chairman of TPG China. Ms. Ma was previously Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Lenovo Group,and was later appointed Executive Director of the board. At Lenovo she took the lead in its 1994 Hong Kong IPO and the acquisition of IBM's PC business in 2004. Ms. Ma still serves on the Lenovo Board as Non-Executive Vice Chairman. Ms. Ma graduated from Capital Normal University in Beijing, and studied at King's College, London.
Douglas Brooks, Assistant Chief Economist, Asian Development Bank
Douglas Brooks is Assistant Chief Economist and Director of the Development Indicators and Policy Research Division at the Asian Development Bank. His research focuses mostly on international trade and investment. He has also served as Acting Director of Research and a Senior Research Fellow at the Asian Development Bank Institute in Tokyo; Director in the Country Economic Analysis Department of the Export-Import Bank of Japan and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation. His recent books include Trade Facilitation and Regional Cooperation in Asia, edited with Susan F. Stone.
Ronnie C. Chan, Chairman, Hang Lung Properties; Co-Chair, Asia Society (Moderator)
Ronnie C. Chan is Chairman of Hang Lung Group and its subsidiary Hang Lung Properties, publicly listed companies in Hong Kong dealing in real estate and property investment, development and management. Mr. Chan also co-founded the privately-held Morningside Group, which, in the past two decades, has owned and managed businesses in several sectors including manufacturing, media, health care, online gaming and high-tech and biotech.
