Asia in Those Days: A Visual Presentation of Early European Life in Asia, with Thomas Brandt
VIEW EVENT DETAILSIn this illustrated presentation, a fascinating glimpse into early European life in Asia will be presented by some 450 visual images consisting of photographs, lithographs, and copper and steel engravings. These will be complemented with extracts from historical travel reports and clippings from the first English language newspapers published by Europeans in Asia.
Thomas Brandt has one of the largest such collections on Early European life in Asia. Brandt has amassed thousands of images documenting the arrival and settlement of Europeans in Asia. Some have been published in his books China in Those Days and Asia in Those Days. These images are important memorabilia and work to preserve social history.
Brandt is also an accomplished economist, and has conducted nearly 100 presentations across the world on business in Asia. He is the General Manager of the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Kuala Lumpur. He has published four books, including AsiaComic. He has been actively consulting small and medium -sized companies on market entry strategies into Asian markets.
