Experience one of Pakistan’s most treasured singers, Arif Lohar. Inheriting the talent and traditions of his iconic father, the legendary singer Alam Lohar, Arif Lohar embraces his heritage and re-imagines it with contemporized interpretations of traditional Punjabi songs. His music captures the sounds of modern Pakistani culture with a unique mix of pop and folk music. As Pakistan’s number-one Punjabi music vocalist, in 2005 Arif Lohar was honored with his country’s highest civil honor, the Pride of Performance Award. Playing his beloved chimta, Arif Lohar will be backed by an ensemble of talented Pakistani musicians.
In a special collaboration, Arif Lohar will be joined by talented world music singer Arooj Aftab. Her inspired songwriting fuses classical Pakistani and Sufi music traditions with contemporary jazz, folk and pop influences, creating a signature sound that has been described as "indigenous soul."
