Dr Ian Thomas has been President of Boeing Australia & South Pacific since 2009. He is the senior executive in the region, leading Boeing’s largest operations outside the US. Dr Thomas previously served as President of Boeing India. He joined Boeing in 2001. From 1997–2001, he worked in a variety of staff and policy roles in the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Defence.
Dr Thomas is also Chairman of the Manufacturing Leaders Group and serves as President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia. He is a member of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Business Advisory Forum, the Australian B20 business leaders group, and the Business Council of Australia.
The Boeing Company is the world’s leading aerospace company and the largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft combined. Australia represents the company’s largest operational footprint outside of the United States. The onshore operations comprise seven subsidiary businesses generating annual onshore revenues of more than US$1 billion.
