Richard C. Holbrooke: Tributes from Around the World
NEW YORK, Dec 14, 2010 - Leaders and diplomats from around the world as well as members of Asia Society's family are mourning the death Richard C. Holbrooke. Fifteen years ago today, he brokered the Dayton Peace Accords, which ended the Bosnian war.
Ambassador Holbrooke, who served as Asia Society Chairman for seven years before becoming President Obama's special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan, touched many people around the world in many ways during a long and impressive career.

General David H. Petraeus, the top military commander in Afghanistan: Described Holbrooke as his "diplomatic wingman." "Richard was a central figure in the overall effort, and his sudden death is a significant blow to it; however, his vision, tirelessness and determination will inspire all of us in the months ahead."
