Asia Society Brings Culture to New York Streets for Museum Mile Festival
The Museum Mile Festival will transform the elegant Upper East Side stretch of Fifth Avenue into "New York's biggest block party" next Tuesday, June 12, with 23 pedestrian-friendly blocks full of fun activities, live music, and free access to all ten famed museums along the mile from 6-9 p.m.
Asia Society is thrilled to be taking part in this visual arts celebration, bringing entertainment and art to the street during the festival. We'll be stationed on Fifth Avenue at 83rd Street for the evening, outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
As you embark along the mile-long cultural promenade, be sure to swing by our festival location — the first 300 passersby will receive Asia Society Museum free admission vouchers, redeemable through the summer. Learn more about our current exhibitions and programs, including Revolutionary Ink: The Paintings of Wu Guanzhong, and enter to win an Asia Society family membership. There will also be live Chinese calligraphy demonstrations and a photobooth on hand.
Museum Mile festivities begin at 6 p.m. on June 12 and run along Fifth Avenue from 82nd to 105th street. With only one evening to soak up over a mile (and thousands of years) of culture, take a peek at this handy map to plan your visit before you go.
