teamLab at the India Art Fair 2018
Asia Society India Centre exhibited teamLab in India for the first time, successfully fostering a greater bridge between Japan and India through contemporary art. By awarding Japanese artist collective teamLab the Asia Arts Future Award at the inaugural 2017 Asia Arts Awards India, the Society's role is to connect new audiences with innovative and novel creative work from the greater Asia region. Following the recognition of teamLab's ground-breaking work as Asian contemporary artists last year, India Society's objective to engage new audiences with teamLab's work was exeedingly met. The India Art Fair is South Asia’s leading platform for modern and contemporary art and portal to the region’s cultural landscape. The Fair, attended by thousands, was the ultimate setting for art-appreciators and those curious to approach and experience teamLab's work for the first time in India. Many were interested with over 200 people asking deeper questions about the nature of teamLab's technological process and conceptual foundations. The sheer number of booth visitors, collectors, artists and curators, who spanned all ages and nationalities, demonstrated the true universal appeal of teamLab's work.
