From the CEO
Dear friends,
Welcome to the Asia Society India Centre's webpage. Here you will be able to find a wealth of information from our latest, breaking programmes to old favorites. This is your stop to keep up to date with activities at our Centre and the goings-on in the worldwide Asia Society community. You can also find the newest edition of our quarterly newsletter that highlights upcoming events with exclusive interviews, news on Asia 21, and information on some key past programmes.
Asia Society India Centre seeks to enhance dialogue, encourage creative expression and generate new ideas across India, Asia, and its relation to the larger world. We work in the areas of policy and business, arts and culture, and education, and develop multidisciplinary formats from private dinners and musical performances to book readings and public lectures. At our events, our aim is to bring you new learnings, interesting ideas, fresh insights, informed perspectives, diverse audiences, and always an independent, non partisan view on Asian and World affairs.
Since we were founded in 2006 by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, we have developed and presented over 300 programmes that build a nuanced understanding of the countries and cultures of Asia, and global issues of importance to the region. Our activities in India have resulted in a rapidly growing membership and attract a wide audience from the corporate sector, government, academia, and the media.
On this website, you'll see information on our past programmes that range from alternative energy to contemporary art; from business networking to monetary policy—that we hope gives you a flavour of what the India Centre has to offer you. Among these are Asia Buzz, an opportunity for young professionals to network; Asia in Writing, a showcase of Asia's best current writers; and Urban Asia, an exploration of the challenges of burgeoning metropolises in Asia.
For those of you who are not yet members, we encourage you to join now. As a membership based organization, your patronage helps sustain the quality and frequency of our programming. Please see our membership form for more information, and feel free to contact us with any questions.
If you're a local or just stopping through Mumbai, we look forward to welcoming you at one of our upcoming events!
