Opening Screening of the 15th Hong Kong Jewish Film Festival
HONG KONG, November 29, 2014 — With an overwhelming attendance, many from the Jewish community in Hong Kong, the 15th Hong Kong Jewish Film Festival started out with the opening screening of 24 Days, a powerful film following the real-life kidnapping and torturing incident of 23 year-old Ilan Halimi in France in 2006. After the film, madame Ruth Halimi, the mother of the victim, and Mr. Eli Bitan, Board Director of the Hong Kong Jewish Film Festival, were invited in a Q&A session with the audience regarding the film.
Madame Ruth Halimi bravely recounted memories of the painful incident, sharing her story and feelings with the audience in hopes to raise awareness of anti-Semitism. Afterwards, guests enjoyed traditional Jewish treats and wine under the hazy moonlit sky at the Roof Garden.
*The 15th Hong Kong Jewish Film Festival will last from November 29, 2014 - December 7, 2014. For more information on other film screenings and schedule, click here.
