Farewell Caravaggio!
HONG KONG, April 15, 2014 – Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio’s Supper at Emmaus, 1605-1606, made the longest trip ever to fly from Pinacoteca di Brera Museum in Milan to Hong Kong and was showcased as the centerpiece of Light and Shadows – Caravaggio•The Italian Baroque Master, which has attracted a record-high attendance of over 26,500 visitors, including more than 120 school and community groups, in the exhibition period of 34 days, while the average number of visitors was over 780 per day - 7 times the previous highest daily average!
For the first time, Drawing Activities and some other education programs of the exhibition, took place at the newly completed Landscape Terrace. A special educational video with educators conducting a virtual class on drawing like Caravaggio.
A 6-month of Italian art and cultural educational program, made possible by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust’s donation, has also been organized as an extension of the exhibition – so far 30 education programs has been held since late February and the campaign will continue until August - please stay tuned into the "Caravaggio in Hong Kong" Facebook page!
