The Asia Society Hong Kong Center is pleased to announce a President's Circle luncheon with Parag Khanna, Senior Research Fellow and Director of the Global Governance Initiative at the New America Foundation, a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy institute that invests in new thinkers and new ideas to address the next generation of challenges facing the United States. Khanna will discuss the state of the world following the collapse of the post-Cold War order, particularly Asian-centric developments. Mr. Khanna is author of the international best-seller The Second World: Empires and Influence in the New Global Order, which looks at the epic political manipulations of nations. This book has been translated into more than a dozen languages. In 2007, he was a senior geopolitical advisor to the United States Special Operations Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Khanna was previously the Global Governance Fellow at the Brookings Institution. Esquire calls him one of the 75 people who will influence the 21st century. Khanna graduated in international affairs from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, and received his Masters Degree from Georgetown's Security Studies Program. He is currently completing his PhD at the London School of Economics. Khanna is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and in 2009 he was honored by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader.
