Summer Institute 2008

This summer, the International Studies Schools summer professional development institute will be in two parts:

  1. July 8 - 10: International Studies Schools faculty to work together and with other experts on internationalizing the curriculum and spreading best practices. Participating in the institute is grant-funded and by invitation only. See the agenda (two-page Word doc).
  2. July 10 - 12: Decision-makers and thought-leaders from across the country join ISSN faculty and other educators for Asia Society’s national forum for policymakers and practitioners. Learn more.

Learning objectives:

  • Effective K-12 strategies and resources for integrating international content across the curriculum
  • Professional development opportunities and resources for teachers to expand their international knowledge
  • Successful approaches to creating K-12 world language programs
  • How businesses and universities are defining global competence and how they are partnering with K-12
    schools to foster 21st century skills
  • How digital technology is creating new opportunities for students to compete, connect, and cooperate across national boundaries
  • How international education promotes academic excellence, equity and equal opportunity for all students in a global era
