His Excellency Khasbazar Bekhat, Ambassador of Mongolia
His Excellency Khasbazar Bekhbat, Ambassador of Mongolia, is delighted to invite Asia Society members and friends to a diplomatic dialogue and an exotic Mongolian dinner at the Embassy of Mongolia.
Ambassador Bekhbat will provide his perspectives on the US'Mongolia relationship. This event will also provide an exclusive opportunity to hear first-hand about the current economic and political developments in Mongolia.
His Excellency Khasbazar Bekhbat was sworn in as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the United States of America on April 9, 2008. Ambassador Bekhbat joined the Mongolian Foreign Service in 1973.
His early assignments included the following positions:
* Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Office, WTO, and other international organizations in Geneva, Vienna, and Rome; Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein (2001-2005)
* Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and the Permanent Delegate of Mongolia to UNESCO (1993-1998)
* Vice Foreign Minister of Mongolia and Chairman of the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO (1991-1992)
* Foreign policy Advisor to the President of Mongolia (1990-1991).
Ambassador Bekhbat graduated from the Moscow Institute of International Relations in 1973, and received a Doctor's degree in History in 1990 from Moscow Academy of Social Sciences.
