Launch of The Asia Foundation's 2011 Survey of the Afghan People
VIEW EVENT DETAILSOn November 18 in New York City, The Asia Foundation will release findings from Afghanistan in 2011: A Survey of the Afghan People — the broadest, most comprehensive public opinion poll in the country, covering all 34 provinces, with candid data gleaned from face-to-face interviews with more than 6,000 Afghan citizens on security, corruption, women’s rights, development, the economy, and negotiating with the Taliban.
This marks the seventh in The Asia Foundation’s series of surveys in Afghanistan; taken together they provide a barometer of Afghan public opinion over time. The findings help inform national leaders, scholars, donors and the policymaking community focused on Afghanistan and the region. The team coming from Kabul to present the findings in New York includes: George Varughese, Country Representative, Asia Foundation Nepal; Sunil Pillai, Technical Advisor, Asia Foundation Kabul; and Sheilagh Henry, Deputy Country Representative, Asia Foundation Kabul. Introductory remarks will be made by Asia Foundation President David Arnold and the event will be moderated by Clare Lockhart, Co-Founder and Director of the Institute for State Effectiveness.
