Shoes, Complaints Hurled at Former Australian PM
Former Australian PM John Howard found himself dodging tough questions as well as flying footwear during a live TV broadcast yesterday. An audience member, dissatisfied with the PM's response to a question about the decision to enter the Iraq war, hurtled a shoe at Howard, and was then escorted from the studio.
Recall that former US President George W. Bush was once the target of a similar sartorial sneak attack when a disgruntled Iraqi reporter hurled a loafer at him in 2008. In August, the unpopular President Asif Ali Zardari was also a victim of a flying shoe when he traveled to the UK amid rising floods in Pakistan. Could there be a trend building?
