Angered by China's New Passport Map, India, Vietnam and the Philippines Retaliate
China recently began issuing new passports with an embedded electronic chip. The passports also come with an updated map of China and the South China Sea region. Two notable inclusions on the China map are the South China Sea islands, ownership of which is currently disputed by both Vietnam and the Philippines, as well parts of Kashmir, currently under dispute with India.
The map has caused quite a stir in the international community, and the three disputing countries are reportedly refusing to stamp the new passports. Below is a Storified account of the events, told through news quote and social media.
