Executive Briefing | Remarks from the incoming and outgoing Ambassadors to Korea
Consensus on the need to utilise the Australia-Korea relationship to its full potential.
SYDNEY, 23 November 2016, Asia Society Australia, in partnership with the Australia Korea Business Council, hosted Australian Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Korea, Mr James Choi as part of our ‘Policy Briefing’ series.
Mr Choi, alongside current outgoing Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Mr Bill Paterson, briefed attendees on the current state of the Australia-Korea relationship and provided insight into what can be expected moving forward.
The discussion covered topics including the current Korean political climate, the need to utilize the bilateral relationship to its full potential and the growth of Korean soft power through popular culture and tourism.
There was engaging discussion between the event participants, with an underlying theme that despite the positive state of the relationship, there is more that can be done to ensure it is better utilised and to prevent it being underrepresented alongside Australia’s other partnerships in the region.
Asia Society Australia’s Executive Briefings are a curated series of meetings presented by diplomats, business leaders and subject matter experts from Asia and Australia.
