Executive Briefing | India's growth and what it means for Australia
Understanding is key to maximising the India-Australia relationship.
SYDNEY, 7 December 2016, Asia Society Australia in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services hosted Australian High Commissioner to India Ms Harinder Sidhu for an exclusive lunch as part of our ‘Policy Briefing’ series.
Ms Sidhu addressed what a rapidly developing India meant for Australia, with emphasis given to the opportunities that will arise and the assistance that can be given in order to make the most of the country’s potential. A better understanding of India, it was noted, will pave the way for this kind of engagement.
A key idea that Ms Sidhu conveyed to the event’s guests related to the problematic nature of analysing India’s growth using the model of China, due to the countries’ vast differences in terms of culture, demography and politics.
Asia Society Australia’s Executive Briefings are a curated series of meetings presented by diplomats, business leaders and subject matter experts from Asia and Australia. Designed to offer a deep dive into the critical issues of the day, to an audience of senior executives from the business, political, educational and cultural institutions that make up the Asia Society network.
This event was hosted by Doug Ferguson, Chairman of Asia Society Australia. It was generously sponsored by Tata Consultancy Services and held in Sydney.
