Sid Myer, Chairman, Asialink and the Asia Society AustraAsia Centre and Jason Hayes, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia are delighted to invite you to an exclusive luncheon with:
The Hon. Anthony Byrne MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Trade and Sir Rod Eddington, Chairman, JP Morgan to launch the report Doing Business with Japan: The Perspective of Australian Companies. This report, commissioned by the Australia-Japan Foundation (AJF) and compiled by the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research, University of Melbourne provides new insight into one of Australia's key economic relationships.
The survey found that Australian companies are overwhelmingly optimistic about their future business prospects with Japan, and the economic relationship is vital and varied. Respondents to the survey confirm that the size and sophistication of the Japanese market makes it highly attractive to firms from across a broad range of industry sectors beyond traditional raw materials and simply processed goods. Australian and Japanese companies are also expanding into new areas of cooperation, including trade and investment in third countries.
The Hon. Anthony Byrne was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary for Trade in February 2009. Mr. Byrne also holds the role of Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister. He supports the Minister for Trade in relation to the promotion and advocacy of Government trade and investment attraction policy.
The AJF, established in 1976, is a bilateral body in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade which seeks to strengthen relations between the two countries by supporting projects that enhance individual, professional and institutional linkages.
