Philippines 21 Young Leaders Program
The Asia Society-Philippines’ Philippines 21 Young Leaders Program is an offshoot of the Asia 21 Young Leaders Program that was launched last year as part of Asia Society’s 50th Anniversary. The main aim of Philippines 21 is to help develop Filipino leaders that will work towards creating positive change in society. Moreover, Philippines 21 can serve as a venue for these young Filipino leaders to interact with each other and also have the opportunity to meet fellow young leaders from different Asian countries at the annual Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit. This opportunity to network and share experiences is very crucial in a highly globalized society where synergy and partnerships play a vital role towards promoting development in the Asia-Pacific Region.
Philippines 21 Young Leaders Forum
Philippines 21 Young Leaders Forum aims to select the 10 most promising young leaders of the Philippines aged between 25-40 years old. These selected young leaders will then be gathered to hold roundtable discussions on the theme, “Responding to the Growing Challenges of the Filipino Society.” As such, speakers from academia, government, non-profit organizations and private groups will be invited to share their expertise and experiences with the delegates. The discourse between the speakers will serve as a starting point for the discussions of the participants. The participants in the Philippines 21 Young Leaders Forum will then be sent to the Asia 21 Young Leaders Forum that will be held this coming October in Singapore where they will meet with their counterparts from the Asia-Pacific Region. Finally, accomplished and well-respected people in Philippine society and in the International community will be invited to mentor these young leaders.
The Yuppies for a Better Philippines Program
The Yuppies for a Better Philippines Program aims to help develop social awareness and a sense of social responsibility and volunteerism among young professionals aged between 25-40 years old who are currently working in different corporations.
The program will partner with corporations and business organizations in inviting young professionals within their organization to take part in the program. These partner organizations will hopefully sponsor a number of their upcoming young leaders to take part in the program. Participants will then be asked to attend a monthly lecture on issues concerning corporate social responsibility, volunteerism, social entrepreneurship and various social issues that the Philippines’ is currently facing. Aside from this, non-profit organizations such as Pathways to Higher Education, Synergeia Foundation and Gawad Kalinga can also set up tables for the young professionals who may wish to sign-up as volunteers to these programs.
Each Lecture will run for 90-120 minutes divided into:
First 45-60 minutes: Lecture by Resource Speaker
Last 45-60 minutes: Open Forum and Discussion
The Lecture Series will be held from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Conference Center every 4th Friday of the month.
The Philippines 21 Future Leaders of Asia Fellowship Program
The Philippines 21 Future Leaders of Asia Fellowship Program aims to identify and help develop young Filipino leaders aged between 18-23 years old who are currently studying at high-tier colleges and universities within Metro Manila and nearby provinces. Through a selection process, the program will identify 100-120 student leaders who will comprise the inaugural batch of Future Filipino Leaders Fellowship Program. These fellows will then be asked to attend a monthly lecture about leadership and key issues in Philippine society. During these lectures the fellows will also be given the opportunity to interact with the invited guest lecturer. The lectures will last for 90-120 minutes each and will be held in different campuses within Metro Manila. The lecture will be divided into:
First 45-60 minutes: Lecture by invited speaker on the chosen topic
Last 45-60 minutes: Open Forum and Discussion
Since the lecture series will be held in different campuses, it will also be open to other student leaders who are based on the host campus. However, participation in the open forum and discussion will only be open to the fellows of the program. Fellows who have successfully completed the lecture series by way of their attendance and their active participation will receive a Certificate of Recognition from the Asia Society-Philippines.
The Lecture Series will be held every 3rd Friday of the Month.
