Li Xiuying (Cai Wenji, Soprano) is currently in her third year in the Professional Studies Program at the Mannes College of Music. She is studying voice with Ruth Falcon and has appeared with Mannes Opera in the lead soprano roles of La Boheme, La Rodine and Luisa. In 2001, she sang Cio Cio San in Madama Butterfly at the Ocean State Lyric Opera in Providence, Rhode Island, and also sang the title role in Suor Angelica and Violetta in La Traviata. In 2000, she was Ariadne in Ariadne Auf Naxos with International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv and with Opera North in New Hampshire. Li was a winner of numerous voice competitions in China as well as the Fourth Budapest International Voice Competition in 1998. |
