XU JINYAN has been a photographer with the News Photo Agency of Yunnan for over twenty years. His work is included in such collections as The Southern Silk Road and The Ancient Tea and Horse Road. Known by his subjects and colleagues alike as a great talker and listener, Xu has focused on documenting ordinary life along these two ancient roads in Yunnan. His photojournalism is marked by a keen understanding of the customs, history, and culture of the region.
